Fun Family Maternity Session at the Laundromat
Time for a little story…
This dear friend of mine and her husband had been praying a while for this sweet baby!
The Summer of 2023 had come to an end. Their two oldest boys were just starting back into school and Laura realized that she was starting to feel a little off. There were only a few days left before her husband was set to deploy for 9-months. His bags were packed and she was still mentally preparing herself for the weight of saying goodbye. She thought surely it was just the stress of prepping for another deployment but she figured she would take a pregnancy test just in case…
YUPPPP you guessed it!
The miracle they had been praying for had been answered! During a time that they quite literally least expected it. While the emotional rollercoaster she had already been riding only seemed to take a steep incline at this point, Laura stopped herself and remembered…
God’s timing is not always ideal in our eyes but because it is from Him…it is perfect.
If He is allowing it He will provide everything she needs and work everything in her favor.
Because she loves Him. Because she TRUSTS Him.
Laura quickly decided to just “Enjoy the Ride”!
Instead of submitting to fear, she has embraced SO beautifully trust and surrender to the Lords will and is truly a rockstar of a Mama! She has been taking care of her two boys solo throughout the course of this deployment while simultaneously managing their home, taking care of their two pups, and running her own photography business, Laura Beth Photography.
Her unique and sentimental laundromat maternity session was such a dream to document for her and her boys.
This was the first time she had “maternity” photos taken out of her 3 pregnancies! She wanted something that was going to share her story and embrace her family's current season of life. Every item included in the session had a purpose and documents something meaningful to Laura and her family.
She chose a Laundromat for its retro and unique feel.
She brought a laundry basket with her baby girl's future clothes, swaddles, and accessories to show how she’s been preparing for her arrival.
She brought a scrabble game for the boys to play with during her solo shots to keep them entertained. (Her oldest spelled out “love the baby” all on his own and then proudly asked to show me! 🥲)
She dressed the boys in clothes that reflected their comfort and personalities. Noah’s “Enjoy the ride” shirt represented the rollercoaster of emotions and beauty this season of life has been!
She wore one of her husband’s flannel shirts around her waist and brought his clothes to fold to help include him in their maternity session.
Before her maternity session, she asked her husband (who is overseas) to take two different photos of his arms. She then photoshopped them onto two of the photos I took. From there, I was able to edit them to match the editing style of her gallery. Anything we could do to include him in their gallery, we did!
Laura is coming to the tail end of her pregnancy which means she is all the more closer to reuniting with her husband! If you’ve made it this far…do her a favor and say a little prayer that their precious baby girl will stay nice and cozy until AFTER dad is able to come home! It’s going to be a close call and all they want is for him to be HOME to witness the birth of his daughter.
