Colder temps definitely make me want to stay nice and cozy inside. I love to curl up next to our wood burning fire with my favorite ultra soft blanket, a hot cup of chai tea, and read aloud to my children from a classic children's book. While some days I’m able to do this, other days, regardless of the temps outside, I have the honor of documenting the love of another family.

Family Photos in February!
Oftentimes, we try to schedule our family photos in the Spring, Summer, or Fall. Mostly due to the warmer temperatures and colorful backdrops of nature. But life doesn’t stop during the month of February! Especially for the Boyd Family!
This was the second year in a row that I had the honor of taking photos for this precious family. Last year we did a Mommy-and-me session to celebrate their son’s 1st Birthday! Sadly, Dad was deployed at the time and was unable to be there for their session. This is why his photos were so important! They not only preserved the beauty for their new toddler, they were a way for Dad to be able to see how much his son had grown since he left several months prior for his Army Deployment.
Fast forward to THIS year! Mom reached out wanting to schedule family photos for their son’s 2nd Birthday and FAST! She had just found out that her husband was possibly going to deploy again and was likely going to miss his son's 2nd Birthday. It was February 2nd and currently 15 degrees in Kansas City. Not ideal for an outdoor session with a soon to be 2-year-old!
So take a wild guess at what location quite literally saved the day for this stunning family session…John’s Greenhouse in Kansas City, MO.
It was 60 degrees inside this enchanting 4000sqft Greenhouse! We rented the entire greenhouse for only 1-hour and were free to take photos throughout all the bright green foliage. It was truly the best location for small families with younger children. There’s enough space to be able to walk around as a family, let littles explore, and take in the beauty of nature in the middle of the Winter.
One of our favorite features were the unique little “treasures” hidden around the greenhouse. There were ceramic animals, bird cages with stone birds, and unique flower pots!
If your life in the colder Winter Months includes important milestones like birthdays, celebrating anniversaries, or preparing to welcome a new baby don’t be disheartened! If you live in the Kansas City Metro Area, simply suggest doing your photography session at John’s Greenhouse!
